The beauty concept in Social Media era

Oh dear beauty pageants, how much damage you have done on millions of boys and girls that, searching to be approved by society were carried away by the canons of physical appreciation imposed by you, without dimensioning the social and mental health problems that these would unleash in mass.

A situation that, for decades has permeated the highest spheres of society, exacerbating issues as worrying as anorexy in teenagers, bulimia, racial discrimination, rejection of the population with physical and motor disabilities, bullying or in the worst of the cases, leading to suicide.

Behaviors that feed the ignorance and the low self-esteem of a population that, perhaps has been benefited with educational programs from government in promotion and prevention of the public health without success, but they are still linked in the Russian roulette that has allowed to construct the concept of beauty throughout the history.

This fact has gained more visibility with the popularization of the internet, where thousands of young people around the world expose their lives, thoughts and feelings daily to certain circumstances, using interaction tools such as social networks, where they have the opportunity to explore a different universe through videos, photographs and texts shared in huge communities of netizens with similar tastes or likings.

In these scenarios, it can be observed that there is an enormous desire to appear an economic, cultural or spiritual position that we have not possibly reached, and it is there when many others fall under the illusory deception of the muscular man in photographs, or the woman which records in video without any modesty a harmonious body and angelic face, while traveling through different latitudes and enjoy the best parties, confusing the values that make the human being unique, causing wounds that could not have a reverse.

"True beauty comes from heart, from what we have in our mind and body. Always remember that you are a risky person, brilliant, beautiful and you are worth enough to achieve what you propose. That's being beautiful beyond physical, and that's never going to go out of style", said to Glamour Magazine the plus size supermodel, Ashley Graham.

Message that every time impatcs in the collective reasoning of Graham's five millions followers on digital platforms like Instagram, where famous people like her reveal themself without violence against the beauty parameters imposed by fashion and entertainment industry.

All that work has served to create a movement of men and women who really loves the way they are and born, and they do not feel afraid to take a selfie without make up or filter, winning a lot of followers that are agree in celebrate the difference.

Definitely, this shows that the word “beauty” in the Social Media era does not build from likes or follows, but of the steem of every person and how they work to improve their inside aspects to embrace the world.
